Somali Media community held a national burial for late journalist Abdilasan Sheikh Hassan(Hiis) and demanded justice for the killing.

It has been a day full of deep sorrow and mourning for the Somali
journalists, who were led to the funeral by some of The National Union
of Somali journalists (NUSOJ) officials and Media group heads,
arranging national burial for the late Abdisalan Sheikh Hassan (Hiis)
who was shot died on Sunday afternoon in Mogadishu, the journalists
called on the government to carry out an immediate investigation to
bring his killer to justice with in 48hours.

The slain journalist Abdisalan Shiekh Hassan(Hiis) was shot dead by a
man with the Somali military uniform at Hamar jajab junction near
Madina Hotel on 18/12/2011.

Somali journalist who showed their sorrow feeling about the tragic
death of their fellow journalist, were all wearing red and white
scarf's on their front heads as well as carrying banners printed on
his photos, saying'' We are asking for justice, security, safety and
the targeting of journalists to be stopped while they were indicating
these words having slain Abisalan's photo on the vehicles that took
the body.

The National burial was organized in collaboration with Somali
journalists and media community and was designated to undertake the
funeral committee. The committee was composed 10 people headed by the
National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ).

THE NAMES OF COMMITTEE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FUNERAL

6.Hamdi Hussein Salat -The Head of Horn Cabdle Tv office in Mogadishu, member
7.Dr.Abdirahman Ali Awale - Dr.habeb, manager of mental health clinic
8.Abdukar Sheikh Ahmed (Albadri) - Freelance journalist, member
9.Abdiaziz Mohamud Gulled (Abdiaziz Africa) - Political News Editor

10. Sahra Abdullahi - Royal TV reporter, member

The National Union of Somali journalist (NUSOJ) and others members of
Somali Media who had attended the funeral in Mogadishu had declared
that they will mourn for the late journalist Abdislaan with in the 24
hours and in accordingly with the holy Quran no more mourning extended
, the mourning
event had taken place ion Monday morning as planned and finished late
Monday afternoon.

At around 6:30 AM in the local time on Monday morning, The 19/12/2011
the organizing committee led by NUSOJ had taken the body of Late
Abdisalan Shiek Hassan(Xiis) in to the Sheekh suufi graves in the
outskirt of Mogadishu with vehicles while the bodies had been put in
to an ambulance along with some other vehicles from (Habeeb mental
Hospital) where the body had been, the Late journalist was officially
buried at 1:30 noon time in Mogadishu.

The journalists stated that they didn't eat any meal more 24 hours
after they were shocked and frustrated by the tragic death of their
fellow journalist Abdisalan Xiis as the deep feeling inside them could
have been seen on their faces.

After the farewell players, late Absisalan's background had been
talked about and being thanked to his royalty to Somali community
through out his life time, Abdisalan is described as one of the most
activity journalist among the Somali Media who played a great roll of
the donations made for the victims hit by the prolonged drought in
Somalia in recent years.

There had been a numbers of officials who had briefed the mourners of
the funeral including the secretary of NUSOJ, both the director and
the owner of Horn Cable TV station who attended the funeral from
Hargeisa, the Director of Kulmiye Radio station who showed a grief
behave of Kulmiye Radio station, the Somali national women union, as
well as the Director of Habeeb mental Hospital as the officials had
showed sympathy and sent a condolence to the beloved family of late
Abdisalan Sheikh Hassan(Xiis), they insisted the government to make an
investigations regarding the death of Abdisalan.

The secretary General of the National Union of Somali Journalists
(NUSOJ) Mohamed Ibrahim who took the speech on behalf of the Somali
Media fraternity has sent his condolence to the family and friends of
Abdisalan, the secretary has also backed the unity of Somalia
journalists at large and reiterating that more than 26 journalists had
been killed in Mogadisho less than 5years while no punishment had been
done yet. Mr. Ibrahim asked for the TFG to bring the murderer to the
justice with in 48hours adding that the journalists should stay united
and organize strikes if the TFG fail to get the work done.

The government officials also sent their condolence the all Mass Media
as at large and all to the family and friends of the late journalist,
the officials added that the killer will be found and brought to the
justice.

The Somali Journalist and Mass Media had welcomed the declaration of
the government which indicates the investigations will be carried out
soon.

Late journalist Absisalan Sheikh Hassan was born in 1973, he worked
for varies Media stations, Horn Cable TV stations and Hamar Radio was
the last placed he worked at, Abdisalan had left 4 children, the Media
will not leave back Abdisalan's family.

Somali journalists will not stop their efforts to ask for justice,
untill the killer faces justices
